Welcome to the art and photography studio of Tobi Lowrance

                photographic art

My photography strives to capture places and moments of beauty and preserve them, to help people see the everyday in a new way.  I don't consider myself to specialize in any one type of photography; but cityscapes, landscapes and still life seem to dominate my work.

This first gallery highlights artistic work I have either done for myself or on commission.  Be sure to scroll to the bottom of the page for a second gallery of HDR and artistically altered pieces.

what people are saying about tobi lowrance art & photography:

"Wonderfully wry shot: love it." - Chicago Reader

"Awesome Tobi.... Thanks! [The Chicago print is] such an accurate representation of the actual view. The perspective and ratio is flawlessly captured and the color more vivid than I remember. Wonderful memories every time I see it!!"
                - commission customer

                various photo comments from Flickr:

"Lovely photo... I like the way the shallow DOF brings out the texture."

"I can hear the quiet in this photo. Makes me want to be step in and stay awhile. Beautiful."

"Gorgeous sunrise shot; the color and lighting are fabulous."

"I like the subtle lighting. Great depth of field as well. Makes a very nice black and white."

                hdr and artistic enhancements

While I love taking a shot that is perfect right out of the camera, I also love enhancing and post processing digital images into a different kind of artwork.  HDR (high dynamic range) is just one of the techniques I use.  All of the photos in the gallery below have been given some level of artistic treatment.
